Day 128. Short trip to Trakų Vokė Manor

#AroundVilnius

Traku Vokė Manor, one of the few manors in / around Vilnius, is located around 20km away from the city centre.

To be precise Traku Vokė is still located on the Vilnius City territory.

Construction 1876-1880

Architect: Leandro Marconi (or in Polish)

Traku Voke Manor was deserted for many years, however it has received financing from EU funds and I believe it will be brought back to its days of splendour again.

Trakų Vokė Manor page was launched this year 2019 ( And I really hope that the page will be active for a long yers).

In December 2019 175 young linden are planned to be grown @Manor (on 15min.lt in LT).

Best time to visit  it is of course Spring-Summer when all the surroundings are green.

Trakų Vokė Manor as well as Lentvaris Manor (Day 57) belonged to graphs TyszkiewiczowieJuozapas Mykolas Tiškevičius , the 2nd Manager of Majoratas in Astravas is mentioned as it's Owner.

#TyszkiewiczPalaces

Manor is surrounded by the English style landscape garden by a Frech landscape designer Edouarde Andre (also creator of the Lentvaris Manor Garden).

From the garden you can reach Monkey Bridge over the Vokė River and the Vokė train station.

Trakų Vokė Manor you could be visites on the way together with Memorial Museum of Paneriai.

Or you can reach Trakų Vokė Manor:
by train till Vokė station, or by bus 51 from Žemieji Paneriai till Eduardo Andre stop.

Day 124. Kayaking in Vilnius. Vokė

 well...

#activeinVilnius

you can choose to spend your weekend day on kayaking in Vilnius.

One of people that are organizing kayaking in Vilnius is vilniausbaidares.lt

And one of the rivers in Vilnius you can choose is Vokė.

As I've said in my Lithuanian blog Vokė - is a tricky river.

It is shallow, and full of stones. Our route started in Baltoji Vokė and ended in Grigiškės.  it took us more than 5 hours to do 18 km.

We had to overcome one serious obstacle: the Mūrinė Vokė damn.

We had to carry our kayaks trought the street to Lentvaris.

We had a lunch between the bridge to Trakai and the Railway Bridge.
