Day 107. Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania. Vilnius Museums

#VilniusMuseums

series of #VilniusINdoors

Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania - completely rebuilt, partially opened in 2009, and finally opened in 2018.

The Museum offers 4 tour routes.

In order to visit all 4 routes you must have a lot of energy and and a lot of time. Thanks God they have a cafe inside, so when you get really tired and hungry you could have some lunch.
Shortly, you wil need half a day - the whole day to visit all 4 routes on your own.

Routes I and II host permanent exhibitions.

My favourite spot on route I is on the 1st floor - a short 3D movie.
You put on 3D glasses, grab strongly handrails and the adventure begins.
The short movie takes you high above the whole Cathedral Square and you see how the surroundings have been changing during the centuries. You start your journey in acient times when only first people used to live there and you end it in nowadays times. You see how the Palace, the upper castle and the Cathedral have been changing.

Amazing experience! I really recommend it! Price - 2 eur (well, in 2019 used to be :))

Routes III and IV are newly opened in 2018 and host temporal exhibitions.

One of the newest exhibitions is The Radziwills. History and legacy of the princes.

As usually, I have visted the exhibition with a musuem tour guide (on Thursdays with prior registration)
Although most of the facts were known to me, exhibition is really interesting.

It may be more interesting to those who are at least intermediate in history of Lithuania and especially interesting to those who are fans of The Radziwills history.

Day 106. Afraid of a wolf, don't go to forest. Walks in Vilnius. Green Vilnius

Series of #WalksinVilnius

#GreenVilnius

We have few parks in Vilnius. And this summer either madeinVilnius or some other site has published ranking od safe and unsafe parks in Vilnius.

So only only safe park in Vilnius is Bernardines Garden.
Well it has undergone fundamental reconstruction few year ago and it is in a perfect state.

It hosts 3 out of 15 Vilnius functioning fountais.

But I have deviated from my main topic.

Pasaku park or Park of Faity tales is among those unsafe Vilnius parks.
But of course, as everyting, the safety or unsafety of this park is questionable.

Why I am talking about this?

Pasaku Park became famous again in January 2019 because of a new project: Vilnius legends in lights that are being shown on the ground, or in winter, on snow.

More about the project: https://www.15min.lt/m/id/pasaulis-kiseneje/per-lietuva/sostines-pasaku-parke-atgime-vilniaus-legendos-642-1084844

Since the dark period of day start quite late in summer, now, in winter, or late autumsn it is the perfect time to see them.

Alreday at 16:45 lights are visible.

Park is considered to be unsafe.

But as old Russian and Lithuanian proverb says: If you are afraid of wolf, don't go to forest.

Day 105. Lithuania National Football Team. Sports and Vilnius.

#VilniusandSports

Well, one of the mosts controversial topics in Lithuania, and especially in Vilnius.

Lithuania National Football Team has to play official home games in a home stadium.

Lithuania National Football Stadium is even more controvercial topic than the the national team.

The whole sitautaion could be represented by the fact that the team has won the game against the foreign national team for the the last time in March 2018.

Today we have 17 November, 2019. A year and a half passed by. No victory taste.

The National Team od New Zealand has come to Lithuania for the first to time to play a friendly game. And today, on this grey Sunday, Lithuanian team won the game for the first time since March 2018.

Congratulations to all fans and believers.

Sad Conclusion: The attidute towards Lithuanian football of Lithuanian politics reflects the results of the National Team.

What can we expect if we don't believe and do not assign an appropriate financing?
