Day 7. Dali - Picasso Exhibition in ARKA gallery

series of #VilniusINdoors

series of #Vilniusgallery

For the first time famous pieces of arts of two oustanding Spanish artists Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso in Vilnius!
Exhibition was brougt to Lithaunia by a Russian businessman and art collector Aleksandr Sadrin.

Official website of the exposition: http://dalipicasso.eu/
LOCATION: the ARKA gallery http://www.arkagalerija.lt/ (museum #1 mentioned on 365days)
Exposition was shown in Vilnius only during few days 7 October - 31 October, 2015

So, when I have decided to visit it finally on 29 October, and I had extra 7 euros finally, and I have come to Ausros Vartu str. 7, I faced an impressive queue ouside. Since it was 6 pm. and the exposition was opened till 8 pm, with sad expression on my face I left.
Only one question comes: Why pepole are waiting to seen something they want till the last days? Or were such queues to get to the exhibition all the time starting from 7 October? Well, I do not have extra 7 euros to spend it anytime, but what about other people?

The picture respresents perfectly a queue outside the gallery and a crowd of people inside seen through the window.

The ARKA gallery is just nera the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society   and it sould be noted that a statue of Jonas Basanavicius will be erected just opposte this building till 2018. Or maybe next year already).

That's right! And 3 years later, on Day 80 Dr Jonas basanavicius is back in town!

Day 6. Pilaite Part I. Lights Festival Beepositive 2015

#VilniusFestivals

Today I will talk about annual Lights Festival Beepostive. This year Festival was organized for the 5th time in Vilnius.

And, I am not wrong, the last festival took place in 2017.

This time not only people from Vilnius or Lithuania may have heard about the Festival: http://www.light2015.org/Home/Event-Programme/2015/Other/Lithuania-International-Light-Festival-Beepositive.html
Although I am not sure if such information was not posted on this site last year.

On Friday night Vilnius citizens ang guests could enjoy instalation in Traku Voke and in Uzupis, and on Saturday night - in Piliate district.

This time iVilnius.lt is describing one of the installations: Europe Garden ( Europos sodas) by Rūta Ivaškevičiūtė, Jonas Liugaila and Justė Brukštutė ( more info in Lithuanian about the instalation you can find here).

And here are 2 pictures of Europe Garden :

Day 5. Vilnius Talking Statues (Sculptures)

I would like to talk a little bit about a really intresting idea of Vilnius Talking Statues.

So, you just have to find and come to one of these 15 Talking Statues and, of course, you should have your mobile phone. You scan QR code from the Statue and suddently you will have an incomming call. And guess what? Yes, you are right! Gediminas  - Grand Duke of Lithuania is calling! You are sitting on the Cathedral Square and listening to him. I loved that so much!
All 15 Statues are talking in Lithuanian as well as in English.

Official website of this project:
http://www.mmcentras.lt/idomybes/9#zemelapis-7684
You can find here the list of the Statues and a map to find them.

As Modern Art Centre ( Modernaus meno centras) states three cities in Europe: Copenhagen, London and Manchester have Talking Statues. Vilnius  brought this idea in 2015 as the fourth city in the world.

Which I loved the most? Of course Žemaitė! Žemaitė is the most famous Lithuanian female writer, but this is only a mere fact which does not determine why I like this sculpture so much.

Žemaitė at Žemaitės square

Why I loved her - is of her unique language. Since Žemaitė is from Žemaitija ethnographical region ( Samogitia in English), she speaks Zemaitiskai ( a local Samogitian dialect). Samogitian dialect differs remarkably from Lithuanian. So as you listen to Zemaite, you listen like a foreign language :)  Besides, she speaks English also with interference of  some Samogitian words, like Dear Tamista (Sir or Madam). It's just adorable!

One of the Talking Statues is the Statue of American rock singer Frank Zappa.

Day 4. DANSKE Bank Vilnius Marathon 2015.

I guess, Danske Bank Vilnius Marathon was the biggest running event in Lithuania in 2015. It took place on beautiful Sunday on 13 Sepetember.
Number of participant - over 16 000.
Official event website: http://www.vilniausmaratonas.lt/en

The Start of Marathon was on the Cathedral Square so all the day the square was overcrowded with people: runners as well as with viewers.

On Friday event organizers are already preparing for Sunday.

Day 3. Capital Days Festival 2015 (Vilnius Days) #VilniusFestivals

One of the most famous annual Vilnius festivals is taking place each year every first weekend of September.

This year festival took place on 4 - 6 September.
I guess it's a perfect time to celebrate because Vilnius is again fool of people, students have come back to their universities, the city is full of life.
Gedimino street is a place of traditional Capital Days Festival Fair where various craftmen and artist sell their handmade product. Also other etertainments for Vilnius citizents and guest are offered.

All events and concerts are FOR FREE :)

The most remarkable are three grand concerts at the Cathedral Square. On Friday evening we can participate in an opening concert, on Saturday usually guest from other countries are giving their peformace and on Sundays we always have a huge closing concert of most popular Lithuanian artists at that time.

Since Friday was a really rainy day and it was raining all evening I spent my time time at home.
On Saturday I was out of the city, and came back just in the evening.
On Sunday I went to grand closing concert of LEON SOMOV & JAZZU at Cathedral Square. Although I am not a big fan of this band, the can tell concert was really really great.  Hundreds of people have gathered on the square many on wchich were big fans of the band. They were singing along with JAZZU and was a great feeling to participate in this concert even not for fans. Most concert version of the songs sounded much better that the official ones ones on youtube.
I didn't have camera nor a good smartphone, so I am sharing with you an official version of one of most popular songs of LEON SOMOV & JAZZU "Lower than a ground'.

See you on Capital Days Festival next. year. :)

On hot and airless Tuesday afternoon I have visited all three buildings decorated with thsese pieces of art. Although I confess I am not a real passionate fan of graffities, I can assure that these are just marvellous works and refreshen dull buildings and surrounding.

First project, located on Pylimo str. 56, just opposite the Vilnius Hall Market (Halės turgus) was created by the Itallian artists MILLO.

Second project, located on Pelesos str. 1, may be called "In the future every building will be word-famous for fifteen minutes" was created by the british artist MOBSTR

And the third project, located on Kauno str. 1, called "Corest Fity" was created by to polish artists Michał SEPE Wręga and Daniel CHAZME Kalinski
