Day 45. Picnic at Sakura park in Vilnius

If you have an opportunity to visit Vilnius in middle of May don't forget to visit Chiune Sugihara Sakura Park in its full bloom.
The park each May attracts hundreds if not thousands of visitors.
There is even a famous joke:

OMG, What kind of Vilnietis you are if don't visit Sakura park each year???

Even our president visits it.

You can organize a perfect picnic there.

At the moment I do not have pictures of the Sakura park in bloom, although I've been there this May.

However I have same amazing pics done last year in October (I guess) in super amazing golden fall of 2015.

Beautiful, istn't it?

And fallen leaves of maples growing not far away from the park

Then, you can visit the National Gallery of Arts which is located nearby.
(I've visited  NAtional Gallery of Arts when Sauka was exhibiting his works) :)

Day 44. Vilnius commemorates Georgia Independence Day

Lithunia, including Vilnius, traditionally each year commemorates Georgia Independence Day.

It is celebrated on May 26. This year that day was commemorated on the meadow near the White Bridge. A huge national flag of Georgia and kites flew up in the sky.

Day 43. In serach for Literatu street #VilniusandLiterature

#VilniusandLiterature

Last Sunday, on May 29, on my way home, I've decided to look for a famous Literatu street :) located somewhere in the Old Town.

Official website of the project  - Literatu street.

Going along Pilies street from the the Gate of Dawn towards the Cathedral, I've turned right into Savičiaus street.
Why?
Almost 2 years ago www.ivilnius.lt was writing about one of the places of UNDISCOVERED VILNIUS -   the unofficial narrowest street of Vilnius.

Backyard of one restaurant on Saviciaus street

When you reach the M. K. Čiurlionis House (Savičiaus str. 11)

turn right and go through the gate (if you are lucky enough and the gate is opened). When you pass the gate, turn right again into the low and narrow tunnel.

At the end of the tunnel you will see a narrow nameless 0,5-0,6 m width street. Really strange street. The non-officialnarrowest  street of Vilnius.

Follow the street and

Few hundred meters away on the right you will see the deserted Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Consolation. the Church (in LT) and the bulidings of the former Augustine Monastery surrounding the Church are one of the most deserted object of Church Heritage in Vilnius.
The eastern buildings of the former monastery

stairs to the courtyard of the monastery and
the southern building

Funny little clound over the monastery building

Go to the Bokšto street, turn left and follow the street till you reach Pilies street again.
The first street on your right will be Literatu street.

Then follow A. Volano street.

and here you will have a wonderful view of the Church of St. Michael where the Church Heritage Museum is located.

Just around the corner you will see beautiful Church of St. Anne.

and on the right I've found one of  little Vilnius Angels. (the fifth one). :)
