Day 67. Anna Karenina shooting in Vilnius in 2012

In the end of 2012 Italian TV Mini-Series Anna Karenina was filmed in Vilnius.

Vittoria Puccini  by Irmantas Gelunas,

Naturally, the question arises why I'm talking about that only in 2017.

And the answer is quite simple, in the articles published on the web, it was mentioned for several times, that it's not planned to show the TV series in Lithuania.

So, only on last two Sundays (March 19 and 26) Anna Karenina was launched on LRT.

It's quite amazing to see Vilnius in the Italian TV series based on a classic Russian Novel.

The opening scene, where Kitty Scerbatskaya and Kostia Lensky meet after some break, was filmed on Lukiskes square on ice (I think that I almost remember that ice on Lukiskes Square).

The manor of the Karenins is the Vileišis Palace in Antakalnis.

The manor of Kostia Lensky is Markuciai Manor
The fields of Lensky were shot in (as I've recognized it) Rumšiškės.

For several times the Vilnius railway station served as the late 19th century railway stations of Saint Petersburg and Moscow.

Frequent scenes were shot on Domininkonai str. or Didzioji str., just in front of the Philharmonic.

One scene was shot in on the frontyard of the Verkiai Palace.

The Uzutrakis Manor served as the place where Anna and Vronsky were spedning their time in Italy.

And finally, the Scherbatsky Palace was shot ouside of and inside of baroque Rundāle Palace in southern Latvia, not far away from Lithuanian border.

To sum up, it was really fun to see all these well known places in the Italian TV series.

Day 66. Verkiai Regional Park. Part II.

#WalksinVilnius

Series of #VerkiaiRegionalPark

Some really beautiful photos of Verkiai Regional Park in golden fall of 2015 could be found on my facebook Sen bei ten po Lietuva.

While talking about Verkiai Regional Park , the first thing to be noticed is that it's abolutely unbelievable, but the park has NO OFFICIAL WEBSITE in ENGLISH!!!

Second, when we talk about Verkiai Regional Park we can talk separetly about the following:
1) Verkiai Palace Assembly
2) Green Lakes and their beaches
3) Verkiai Calvary with the Church of the Discovery of the Holy Cross (Kalvarijos Church) and the Church of the Holy Trinity, Trinapolis.

All these tree ellements can be topics of separate posts. :)

Day 65. Walking by Neris in Valakampiai. Part III. Park of Benches in Antakalnis.

#WalksinVilnius

This is a continuation of our walk throught Antakalnis towars Valakampiai.

A modern, opened just one year ago, Park of Benches is located in Antakalnis,  near Zalakeviciaus street. Is reachable from Antakalnio ziedas bus stops.
The unique thing of this park is that it has an avenue of benches, the scheme of which is presented below.
The opening of the park was commented by delfi.lt/grynas (in LT), by www.15min.lt (in LT), an interview with Argirdas Kauspedas was presented also on http://www.15min.lt (in LT).

I was planning to have a walk by Neris, towards 1st Valakampiai Beach (in LT), so I left the park. On the left I passed by Etertainment Park in trees.

Entertainment in Trees Park just near the Park of Benches

Path by Neris towards Valakampiai Beaches is easily reachable from Lizdekos street, by turning left into forrest, following some of paths leading left (and old stairs leading left), you will find the main path just by the river towards beaches.

When you reach Valakampiai Bridge, you can easily cross Neris and prolong your walk along the right enbankment of the river or you can stay on the left bank, the proper path on the left bank should be explored.

As soon I explore that, I will persent my findings here.

Day 64. Just a simple lunch break on Neris

On my lunchbreaks, sometimes I have some walks by Neris.

Day 63. Saint Patrick's Day. Uzupis Part IV.

Well, as I promised last year (2016), I had to be here on Saint Patrick's celebrations.

So, On 18 March at 01:30 P.M. I was here.  The terrasse of Uzupis cafe is full of people.

Saint Patrick's Steamer

As you see, some of them are wearing green caps.
And most of them are drinking Guiness (of course!)

It was 01:45 P.M. and nothing happened. And I got a logic suggestion to check the agenda of the celebration. Eureka! Vilnele turns green only at 03:05 P.M.

So if you are planning to go to this celebration, always check the agenda.

We've decided to have some bear, but not here, in Uzupio cafe, so we left.

on the way I've noticed some strange pictures:

Grafitti on Isganytojo str. or Skapo str.
(although I do not remember exactly)

Picture on the wall on Skapo Str.

We are back at 03:05 P.M. just near / under Užupis bridge
and Vilnele has just turned GREEN. That's absolutely awesome!
