It's really odd that their webpage exists only in Lithuanian.

Day 77. edition 2. Vilnius Culture Night vol. 2020. Vilnius Festivals

 #VilniusFestivals

as I said on day 77 , Vilnius Culture Night usually takes place in the middle of June.

However, due to well known reasons,  vol. 2020 took place on September 25.

My top 1 thing to see was lights performance on Sports and Concerts Palace.

Day 124. Kayaking in Vilnius. Vokė

 well...

#activeinVilnius

you can choose to spend your weekend day on kayaking in Vilnius.

One of people that are organizing kayaking in Vilnius is vilniausbaidares.lt

And one of the rivers in Vilnius you can choose is Vokė.

As I've said in my Lithuanian blog Vokė - is a tricky river.

It is shallow, and full of stones. Our route started in Baltoji Vokė and ended in Grigiškės.  it took us more than 5 hours to do 18 km.

We had to overcome one serious obstacle: the Mūrinė Vokė damn.

We had to carry our kayaks trought the street to Lentvaris.

We had a lunch between the bridge to Trakai and the Railway Bridge.

Day 123. Festival- fair TAUTŲ MUGĖ. September in Vilnius

 #SeptemberinVilnius

One more traditional festival which takes also place in Vilnius in September is TAUTŲ MUGĖ.

It usually lasts for 3 days. Traditional components of this festival are: the fair and performances of various nations living in Lithuania.

This year it was the 12th TAUTŲ MUGĖ.

To sum up,  September in Vilnius is super rich in events.

Day 101. Autumn Equinox @Neris Enbankment. vol.2020 #SeptemebrinVilnius

This year AUTUMN EQUINOX festival was more modest than every year, I guess, due to well known reasons.

The script of the celebration was the motive of verpstė.

And this year performance took place on the left enbankment on the river on the side towards the Žaliasis tiltas.

Day 122. Jeruzalė Sculptures Garden

Series of: #VilniusOUTdoors

Series of: #VilniusSculptures

A perfect May day with a perfect weather to visit Jeruzalė Sculptures Garden.

Scuptures Garden established in 1981 by a scuptor Vladas Vildžiūnas.
It's a home to more than 50 sculptures. A building for a gallery was constructed in 1991.

I've found  A Sister of famous Krantinės Arka , I just can guess that it is a scuplture by Vladas Urbanavicius.

Also a prototype of Barborba  of Vladas Vildziunas is located there.

Location: Lobiu str. 6a. (not so easily found).

Gilūžis Lake Beach. Future Visions of Vilnius. Day 128 Day at Gilūžis Lake beach

#VilniusLakes

#FutureVisions

#Pilaitė

Well, here are some news from Pilaitė.

It was decided that new a beach in Pilaitė near Gilužis Lake will be opened.

What does it mean for us - residents of our dearest Pilaitė?

So, first, we had this beach till  this moment and it was visited by a lot of people who wanted spent their time by the lake and the beach is definitely nothing new for us.

Second, the beach and surroudings will get more crowded. The last thing that we want is hundreds of cars passing on a quite Angelavos str.

Third, as surroundings get more crowded, the amount of trashes will significantly increase.

To sum up up, nothing good for us - resisdents of Pilaitė.

The beach was ready in Summer 2020.
I wouldn't say that the beach has changed significantly. It's tidy. On hot summetr days it's  crowded.
The footbridge is new.
In summer plastic ponton (pontoon) brigde was mounted.

Day 120. MO and 1990s DNA

series of#VilniusINDoors

#MO

As I've mentioned almost  a year ago  - MO was opened in Novemeber 2018.

And I've visted it only in July 2019!

It was a visit with their guide Gabrielė of Exhibition: Human. Animal. Robot.
Admission fee: 7eur.

This time, I've visted MO once again in the end of February.

These were the last days of exhibition:

The Origin of Species. 1990S DNA.

The first decade of independence from the USSR shaped Lithuanians into who they are today. The decade of chaos, freedom, scarity and the unofficial discovery of state. Memorable artifacts of regular people brought together in an exhibition demonstarting teh shift to a more structured and civilized existence. WHY LITHUANIANS TODAY AS THEY ARE?

This exhibition will uncover the confricting mood of the society, euphoric nature of new beginnings and THE COMPLEXITY OF CHANGE. A glimpse of art, culture and ourselves, Bundled with stories of eveyday life. Music, Fashion, amrket economy, a newly born mafia  and pop culture will itself alongside the artworks of MO collestion.

Curators: Vaidas Jauniškis, Rimantas Kmita, Mantas Pelakauskas, Miglė Survilaitė, Aurimas Švedas, Tomas Vaiseta, Renata Valčik
Architects: Renata Valčik, Joris Šykovas
Designer: Liudas Parulskis

(info from official leaflet of the exhibition)

February 29-March 1 was the closing weekend of the exhibition.

Admission - still 7eur, but on Thursdays you get 50% discount if you buy Žmonės
And for people with Tour Guide Certificate - admission for free. (!!!)

And one more absolutely great thing is an audio guide absolutely for free. And information about almost all artworks from the exhibitions you can hear on your phone.
And that's why you get totally involved in visting the exhibition!
