Day 34. Some more graffities in Vilnius. Vilnius Street Arts Festivals 2013 & 2014

Let's go to see some more Vilnius graffities.

#StreetArt

Many of them were created during Vilnius Street Art Festivals ( in 2013, 2014 & 2015).

Paintings created last year during the 3rd festival I have presented here (3 paintings) and here ( 1 more, and also one of 2014 which I call kaip ne zmogus by ARYZ and a famous graffiti on Lietuva cinema (in LT) by Ernest Zacharevic.

Atlants by Ernest Zacharevic you see as you walk along the Neris enbankment starting from Žvėrynas (see here).

And here comes the graffiti on former Soviet Palace of Trade Union located on Tauro Hill (in LT)  (Taurakalnis or Pamėnkalnis (also in LT) (location Naujamiestis district)

Quite a new graffiti in Zverynas on Seliu str. / Kestucio str. corner.

& the building with the graffiti in January 2019 is already gone :)
so I'm glad that I've captured the picture

I guess that graffiti is by 209. (His style Post on Day 34)

Some facts and opinions about 209 you can find in the article: ko-gali-ismokyti-klajones-gatvemis-tapant-graficius-767076

One graffiti which is alreday done is also worth mentioning.

It was created, if I'm not mistaken, on Vilnius Street Art Festival 2016, which was  actually the last Street Art Festival,  on the deserted building near The Energy and Technology Museum on Rinktines str. 2 as you see on the screenshot of some site website, or maybe even the interview with the artist ASYLUM.

The Graffiti by ASYLUM.

The building used to be an illegal hostel for artists and the ASYLUM himself says that he used to live here.
The whole story and some more photos of gone graffiti you can find on 15min.lt (in LT).

In 2019 The building is gone. A brand new hotel of Hilton Hotels franchize will be constructed soon.

So the graffiti is also gone, and it belongs to a group of so called Gone Vilnius Graffities. Nobody will recall it in few years.

Everything changes and the only constant idea is a continuous change.

The city is like a living organism and it never stops progressing.

Krioklys aka The Waterfall on the Seimas garage building

Also one of the paintings created on Vilnius Sreet Art Festival 2016.

It is, or rather was, a huge photocollage on the Seimas garage building, on Zveju str. on the ringht enbankment of Neris, scandouslly costing 10 000 eur.

The whole story and the photos could be found in the article on lrytas.lt

And, in June 2019 the Krioklys is already gone.

One more graffiti created on Vilnius Street Art Festival:

by SEIKON, KRIK KONG, SZYMA

Day 147. Kirdiejai Palace. and Vilnius museum.

previous spot or activity: Walk in State Cultural Reserve :)

I've just attended a discussion at Kirdiejai Palace organized by Vilnius museum.

Participants of the discussion: Rūta (moderator, Vilnius Muesum coordinator, historian), Mindaugas Repšys ( former resident of skvotas Barbora, belonged to a punk movement), Povilas (historian), and Viltė (heritage manager). Of course Rasa was also present here, but she was a photographer today.

Kirdiejai Palace is an abandoned building near the Bernardine Garden. And it seem that it has bad luck, because it was abandomed for yeras and years in 17th and 18th centuries, and it is abandomed now.

Kirdiejai Palace was constructed in the begining of 17th century.

In 1993 skvotas Barbora was established here.

short deviation:

(Street Artist ASYSLUM has established skvotas at Rinktinės str. 2 (now it will become Double Tree by Hilton hotel)

The last residents of skvotas, among them the family of  Kristojonas who was born in Barbora (his father - Giedrius was a student at VDA), and were evicted in around 2003.

In 2005 the building was enlisted on the Lithuanian heritage list.

Despite the fact that the buildings have been rented to a private company, it did not help to bring them back to life.

The territory of the buildings belongs to the State Cultural Reserve of Vilnius Castles.

Buildings belong to Vilnius city.

And, as I uderstood, Vilnius museum is planning to move here in the future.

In the front of the buildings at Maironio str. 1 quite a new Hotel Vilnia is located.

Next spot: Menų Spaustuvė
